Seaweed collector

This guy was working at the resort where I stayed in Mexico last September. His job was to collect the seaweed on the shore, there was another guy that was in the water collecting seaweed but he was not in the picture. I was interested to take him with his baggy white shirt that looked so different with the tourist around him. He had a pile of seaweeds on the right hand side, and he already bagged some of them on the left hand side. I guess he will just take them to the dumpster and throw it away (I didn't ask him). His skin is so dark as you can tell, must be from working outside most of the time.

Sorry for my laziness, I have not updated my website for a very-very long time. I finished taking photos of another family few weeks ago and I made this photo as the cover. I made an album and that was the first one where I have a consistent theme to tell their family story (Fall and their family). Thanks for the Wairisal family that let me take their family picture. I enjoyed the talk and coffee!

By the way, the white stuff that normally comes in the Winter (aka snow) started coming down to Canadian soil. Seems that Winter is around the corner.

My first series from Mexico. Went there 2 weeks ago, and love every seconds of it. I took this picture inside the resort while the dark cloud is still looming. This guy was working to mop the floor from the rain water. I like to color of the wall, I think this color is unique. I waited for few minutes until he came close to this area, I was hoping that he is going to mop the floor in front of this wall but he kept going.

Trying to frame a sunset at Bon Echo. My friend "Opa JB" was standing enjoying his dinner while the sun was slowly setting behind him. I have other photos of him, with and without flash. One of them show his face clearly as I was using a flash. But I like this one better as it was more dramatic and focus more on the beautiful scenenary behind him.

We just came back from our annual camping ritual at Bon Echo. The weather was hot on the first day and it was cooling down a little bit. I also learned that this lake at Bon Echo is the second deepest lake in Ontario (don't ask me what is the first one, because I don't know). We were just waiting for the ferry to come and pick us up. This boy (Calvin) was so eager to go canoing and curious so he was just kneeling down on the dock and toying with this canoe.

Simplicity

There was exhibition on Jellyfish at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. I don't have Macro lens so I tried to get to this Jellyfish as close as I can using my 17-40 mm lens. I didn't have tripod with me either so I tried not too shake my hand when I took this picture.

I like the idea of simplicity from this picture, the fact that Jellyfish is consist of more than 90% water. Have no brain or central nervous system. Some species of Jellyfish are very poisonous.

No other object on the picture, just a simple Jellyfish - bobbing away.

Still in July 4th spirit, I thought to post this picture taken from Frankenmuth, Michigan. I am trying to capture the spirit of Independence Day so hopefully this picture tell that story.

Navy Pier

Wave Swinger Rides at Navy Pier Chicago. It was brutally hot last weekend in Chicago but it was fun family vacation. Navy pier was jam pack with people, specially on the night of July 4.

At the background, it was the iconic Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier, 14 storey high. Modeled after the very first Ferris wheel, which was built for Chicago's 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. When I shot this picture right below the Wave Singer Rides, the color of the rides immediately caught my eyes and i really wanted to make it stand out. If you move your eyes to the left, the guy on the left was stretching his arm - enjoying the ride. Summer, hot, colorful and clear blue skies are the theme of the picture.
